Texas Take

Nov 1, 2018

President Trump this week ratcheted up his rhetoric on illegal immigration, threatening to send as many as 15,000 troops to the US-Mexico border in response to a caravan of people traveling north from Central America. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has fully embraced the president's argument along with other Republicans who say the threat is real even though these immigrants are more than 900 miles from the United States.

Meantime, there was a bomb scare at the Texas Capitol after a suspicious package was received by a Democratic state lawmaker.

Sen. Ted Cruz toured the Rio Grande Valley making his closing argument to voters in South Texas while little kids were dressing as his opponent Rep. Beto O'Rourke for Halloween.

Go behind the headlines for a look at what's really going on at the Texas Capitol and in Washington with the state's #1 political podcast: The Texas Take.
